' Cosmic ' .m4a / Amazing

Set to ‘ Cosmic ’ .m4a by Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats and Amazing by Kanye West (featuring Jeezy), this music video follows a young man on a surreal journey. After consuming a mysterious elixir from a vial, he finds himself propelled into a psychedelic odyssey. As the liquid takes hold, he grapples with distorted perceptions and impaired motor skills. With each passing moment, the boundaries between reality and illusion blur further, casting him into a kaleidoscope of uncertainty. Amidst swirling hallucinations, he encounters several enigmatic masked figures with an ominously haunting presence. Uncertain if they have materialised from the depths of his subconscious or whether their looming presence is real, he frantically attempts to escape their relentless pursuit.

‘Cosmic’.m4a / Amazing was conceived in early October 2021 as part of a music video assignment during my time studying film in sixth form. The project emerged before my efforts as a writer, initially taking shape through scattered notes rather than a formal script.

The concept was loosely inspired by the music video for 'In Your Eyes' by The Weeknd, in which a girl is pursued by a killer, following a classic slasher-style narrative. Created during the Halloween season, I wanted to capture a spooky atmosphere, splitting the video into two parts: ' Cosmic '.m4a by Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats for the fast-paced first half, followed by Amazing by Kanye West (featuring Jeezy), which carries a more eerie and tense tone as the protagonist ventures into a dark forest at night.

Filming took place over two days: October 14th and October 27th, 2021, using my Sony A6400. The first day was shot inside my secondary school, while the second day took place in two wooded locations. The production had a limited budget of £30, spent on props such as the vial our protagonist drinks from, a Monster Energy drink standing in for the mysterious liquid, and two Halloween masks.
